Houston Private Investigator Rates

Most clients are concerned about the cost of conducting a private investigation. We try to work with all our clients to maximize their dollar and get the results desired in the shortest time possible. We are hesitant to work with clients who are too concerned about the "bottom line," just as you should be hesitant to hire a firm that will agree to a rate that is far below the average. Right now the average rate for professional investigative services in Houston when billed per hour is $60 to $70 per hour, give or take a few dollars depending upon the circumstances.

Surveillance Rates:
We will not mislead clients about the cost of an investigation. We will tell you up front what to expect. All surveillance services will require a retainer in the form of a check or credit card of at least $541.25 (that's $500 for investigative purposes and $41.25 for state tax). We will then work against the retainer at the quoted hourly rate. We will stop when we have exhausted the retainer and call for approval to continue or to end the surveillance. Any usused portion of the retainer after applicable time, mileage, tax and report fees may be returned. Our surveillance rates are as follows:

Hourly daytime rate: From 3 to 7 hours in one day - $70 per hour (3 hour minimum*)
Extended Hourly daytime rate: More than 8 hours in one day - $65 per hour
Nightime rate: Surveillance between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. - $75 per hour

* Mileage on all surveillances is .47 per mile from our office
* 3 hour minimum per day applies on all surveillances (non refundable)
* Texas sales tax applies to all services performed in the state regardless of the client's location

Rates for Field Investigations:
Field investigations include services other than surveillance, and generally fall into one of the following areas: witness locates, interviews, statements, affidavits, field work, court research, etc. These services are billed at $65 per hour and $.47 cents per mile from our office.

Asset Searches and other Database Rates:
Rates for asset searches, database searches, SSN# verification, cellular number breaks, and other utility searches are priced individually. Please call for a quote.
